Xero setup that saved 8 hours a week
A boutique retailer ditches spreadsheets and moves to Xero — saving 8 hours of admin every single week.

The Challenge
Jess owned a thriving boutique clothing store in Perth’s northern suburbs. Despite strong sales, she was spending every Sunday doing the books — manually reconciling bank statements, chasing invoices in her inbox and trying to make sense of stock values in a spreadsheet that hadn’t been updated in weeks. Tax time meant three frantic weeks handing shoeboxes to her accountant.
What We Did
We started with a discovery session to map out exactly how Jess’s business operated — her supplier payment cycles, her point-of-sale system, her bank accounts and her team’s access needs. From there we set up Xero from scratch, integrating it directly with her POS system so sales data flowed in automatically each day.
We set up bank feeds, created a chart of accounts tailored to retail, and built out a simple invoicing and bill payment workflow. We also ran two one-on-one Xero training sessions with Jess so she felt confident managing the day-to-day herself.
The Results
Within two weeks of going live, Jess’s Sunday bookkeeping sessions were gone. Reconciliation now takes 15 minutes a day. Her accountant receives a clean Xero file at tax time with no chasing required, and Jess has real-time visibility over her cash position and outstanding supplier bills.
“I genuinely didn’t think accounting software could make that much difference. Getting Sundays back alone was worth every dollar.”
